ZUNI BEADED WEAVERS BY ALESIA PONCHO. Zuni beadwork has evolved from tourist souvenirs to detailed pieces of folk art. First the Zuni artists carve a wooden form and then they bead over it, using the peyote stitch and seed or glass beads. With a continuous strand, Zuni beaders meticulously create wonderful patterns throughout their beadwork.

This wonderful beaded set of weavers and their weaving was hand beaded by award winning artist Alesia Poncho. 2 5/8" tall x 2 5/8" long x 2 1/4 wide-weavers. 5 3/8" tall x 6" long x 1 1/8 wide-weaving. Zuni Pueblo is the largest pueblo in New Mexico, and because of its location, Zuni is the most traditional. Most of the people of Zuni rely on the sale of traditional and contemporary arts and crafts.
