Native American Zuni Beaded Maiden By Anita Mahkee
ZUNI BEADED MAIDEN BY ANITA MAHKEE. Zuni beadwork has evolved from tourist souvenirs to detailed pieces of folk art. First the Zuni artists carve a wooden form and then they bead over it, using the peyote stitch and seed or glass beads. With a continuous strand, Zuni beaders meticulously create beautiful patterns throughout their beadwork. This lovely Maiden was hand beaded by Anita Mahkee.

(note-the doll wobbles a little, needs a flat surface to sit). 6" tall x 3 3/8" long x 3 wide. Zuni Pueblo is the largest pueblo in New Mexico, and because of its location, Zuni is the most traditional.
