ZUNI BEADED APACHE MOUNTAIN SPIRIT DANCER BY TONY LAIWAKETE. Zuni beadwork has evolved from tourist souvenirs to detailed pieces of folk art. First the Zuni artists make a pillow form and then they bead over it, using the peyote stitch and seed or glass beads. With a continuous strand, Zuni beaders meticulously create beautiful patterns throughout their beadwork. This Apache Mountain Spirit dancer was made by Tony Laiwakete. 4 1/4" tall x 4 1/4" long x 1 1/8 wide. Zuni Pueblo is the largest pueblo in New Mexico, and because of its location, Zuni is the most traditional.
