Nice example of a mid 20th century Native American Southern Plains Indian / Comanche doll. Very detailed male figure with beaded breast plate and necklace. Red yellow and green glass beads on chest. Larger orange red and blue beads on necklace. Concho belt, earrings and chest ornament. Blue leggings with patches of red fabric on legs and shoulders. Facial Features drawn on with ink. Approximately 5.5 inches tall. Long Braided black hair, probably wool. Condition is good with light wear from age and use. Conchos were first worn by southern plains Indians as hair ornaments the adapted by the Navajo in the late 19th century. Early conchos for belts were hammered from Spanish silver coins. Concha is the Spanish word for seashell.
