Custom, recently made, one-of-a-kind Southwest Native American-inspired necklace, with red heishi beads in imitation of coral interspersed randomly with silver colored metal beads. This necklace is strung on stainless steel multi-strand wire.
The design is reminiscent of vintage Pueblo coral necklaces found in museums and old collections that have a number of sterling silver beads scattered randomly among the coral. Photos of such necklaces have appeared in various well-known southwest themed magazines and reference works on southwest native jewelry. The heishi beads are about 8 mm in diameter and are believed to be made of howlite. The artist, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated that the design and creation of the necklace was inspired by examples of vintage coral necklaces that were seen while living in Colorado and during visits to Santa Fe. The artist also noted that a sterling silver Taxco clasp was re-used on this necklace, which is marked 925.
Total length is about 30 inches. Note this necklace is of Southwest Native American-inspiration and general styling only. It is not native American made. All items are available locally and therefore subject to sale at any time.
