Handcrafted Native American Leather Face Dolls Beaded Face Seed Beads 1940s Vtg
Handcrafted Native American Leather Face Dolls Beaded Glass Seed Beads 1940s Vintage. A matched pair of vintage mid-century Native American folk art dolls and Chief profile pin of the same era, in a Riker display case. Unlike mass-produced souvenir dolls of the era, these unique 5.25 figures have hand-sculpted, pinched leather (hide/buckskin) faces with detailed facial features constructed from glass seed beads. Both figures feature fine, dark braided hair (appears to be human hair or very fine horsehair) tied off with delicate suede strips. Their traditional fringed leather clothing is accented with white and blue geometric glass seed beading layouts. The dolls are accompanied by a separate vintage molded Chief profile souvenir pin from the same era. The pin clasp is stamped Pat Pend. The pair of dolls and pin come housed together inside a 12"x 8" Riker display case. Please review all photos carefully. The figures are in vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Notably, the delicate leather fringe on the outfits is suffering from dry rot and is flaking/shedding onto the white backing inside the frame. The sculpted leather faces, hair, and beadwork remain completely intact.
